As our skin constantly battle the rough environment like pollution and UV rays, through out this process of self-defence, it will produce loads of harmful free radicals as end products which will persistently cause damage to our skin cells, skin DNA and collagen structures. As a result, we will get wrinkles, aging skin, loss of collagen and even pigmentation due to the abnormal skin cells and DNA alteration.
Adding Vitamin E in our diet and skin care product will strengthen our skin in many ways. Basically what Vitamin E does is to fight off those harmful free radicals by neutralizing them. Therefore, in the long run, it will safe guard the skin and prevent aging process. Vitamin E will also absorb damaging UVB rays and reduces our chance of getting a sunburn.
Vitamin E is a potent anti-oxidant. It can fight inflammation and thus reduce skin reaction like redness and itchiness. It can also be found in the skin membrane which act as a barrier to keep skin cells hydrated.
Vitamin E in skin care should contain its potent form called alpha-tocopherol. It will help to improve scar, fight UV exposure, maintain skin moisture and have anti-aging effects. Vitamin E can be beneficial in moisturizers, treatment serum, sunblock and even rinse-off product like cleanser.
