Q: Why do we get back acne?
A: Besides our face, acne tends to grow in other areas of the body like the chest, back and shoulders. Because these are the places with high concentration of sebaceous glands which are responsible in producing sebum on the skin.
While facial acne affects most people at some point in life, some will also struggle with back acne and even chest acne. In fact, back acne affects more than half of people with acne.
When the sebum and dead skin cells clog up the pores, with overgrowth of skin bacteria, this will cause acne.
Acne on the back and shoulders is commonly associated with sports activities that cause increased sweating and friction from athletic gear and clothing.
