Q: Where did the acne causing bacteria come from?
A: The bacteria that is responsible for our acne breakouts is called Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes). They live on our skin all the time, they only become a problem when a pore is blocked, that’s when we get an active acne.
When the pore is clogged by excessive sebum/ oil and dead skin cells, this bacteria will cause an infection and stir up an inflammation called acne.
Therefore, our first step in taking good care of our skin is to cleanse our face thoroughly with a good cleanser that is able to remove the excess sebum, remove the dead skin cells and deep cleanse the pores. But remember, don’t overdo it until the moisture content on the skin is strip off excessively as this will impair the protective layer of the skin surface which will cause more other problems like redness, flakiness, sensitive skin and even acne flares
