Q: What are the factors that trigger acne breakouts?
A: The development of acne is caused by 4️⃣ main factors:
1) ()
– As sebum is sticky, and when it is over produced, it is more likely to clog the pores and cause proliferation of bacteria and acne formation.
2)
– Our skin is constantly renewing itself by shedding the dead skin cells. Sometimes, those skin cells can get stuck in the pores and clog them up, leading to whiteheads and blackheads. When these get infected or inflamed, it will turn into an acne.
3)
– A bacteria known as propionibacterium acnes (p. acnes) naturally lives on our skin. But inside a clogged pores, they may grow out of control and cause acne.
4)
– Inflammation and swelling increases the chance of clogged pores and is what makes acne red and painful.
