Q: What is Mandelic Acid good for?
A: Mandelic acid is naturally derived from almonds. It is a type of AHA, same group with glycolic acid and lactic acid. However, it is more gentle on the skin as compare to the other AHA. Due to its larger molecular size, it doesn’t penetrate the skin as deeply as glycolic acid, so it’s gentler on the skin.
Mandelic acid works by gently exfoliating the dead skin away. By doing so, it will reveal a brighter and clearer skin, unclog pores, prevent whiteheads & blackheads, reduce acne break outs, as well as lighten pigmentation and create a more even skin tone and diminish fine lines. On the other hand, it also helps to strengthen collagen and hence retain the skin’s youthful firmness.
Mandelic acid should be applied two or three times a week and always in the evening. Apply mandelic acid after cleansing and onto dry skin. It needs to go on before your moisturizer and other serums.
