Q: What BB, CC, DD, EE alphabet creams actually are?
A: BB and CC creams are the all-time favorites for those who like natural makeup, all-in-one products, and with as many skin care benefits as possible. While DD and EE creams are much less common.
They are in actual fact one part foundation and one part skincare product.
While alphabet creams often contain impressive skin care ingredients, they will not penetrate into your skin as well as they would if they were in a moisturizer. So, if you’re looking for serious skin benefits, wear a serum or moisturizer underneath your alphabet creams.
Another important aspect that you may probably missed is that alphabet creams won’t work for you as a sunscreen replacement. Remember to put a layer of sunblock with SPF 50 under your alphabet creams.
Decoding the alphabets:
BB – “blemish balm” or “beauty balm”
CC – “colour correction”. It usually has a skin brightening (glowing) effect.
DD – “daily defense”
EE – “extra exfoliation”
To date, many cosmetic companies have since discontinued their DD and EE creams as they provide no extra proven benefits to the skin.
