Q: How can I fade my stretch marks?

A: Stretch marks, also known as striae, are a form of skin scarring due to over-stretching of the skin during pregnancy, excessive weight gain and rapid growth of the body during puberty. In time of over-stretching, the dermis get torn and leave scar. When the striae is new, it tends to be purplish in colour. Older striae is usually pale or white in colour.

Stretch mark cream or scar serum can be applied to prevent worsening of its progress at the early stage. Fractional CO2 laser together with PRP treatment will improve the appearance of the striae. Treatments typically work better during the initial phase of the formation of the stretch marks. Prolonged striae is more difficult to treat. Left untreated, it may take years to fade but unlikely to disappear completely.
