A: This is a straight forward case of viral wart (human papillomavirus) causing a cutaneous horn. It can happen in any age group. Small cutaneous horn can be easily removed by cutting it out using CO2 laser, as in this case. Bigger horn will need cryotherapy to freeze it or surgical excision to remove it.

However, if it occurs in older adults or the surrounding skin appears red, inflammed and thickened, there could be a possibility of having a cancerous or precancerous skin condition.
